Education: 

Belmont Abbey College Bachelor of Arts, Degree in Accounting.

2016 Georgia Youth Soccer Association Boy's Select Coach of The Year Award. This Award Selection was selected from, "GYSA's" 12,000 Select Coaches.

Coach Franklin has worked in US Youth Soccer as Team Coach, Academy Director, "DOC", Director of Coaching and Executive Director. He has 45 years of youth coaching experience and player development to his credit. During that time, Coach Franklin has placed hundreds of players into Colleges and Universities.  He has also had the pleasure to work with Youth stand out players Alessandro Castro who represented the U-17 Honduras National Team and John Torres who represented the U-20 US Soccer National Team in competition.

Currently, Coach Franklin has coached with the Alaska "ODP", Olympic Developmental Program since 2018.  And has been on the USYS ODP Regional 4 Staff since 2019.

Coach Franklin was invited by US Head National Team Coach Walt Chyzowych, to attend the 1977 United States Olympic National Soccer Team Training Camp, located at the Squaw Valley Olympic Training Center, in California, in preparation for the up-coming 1980 Olympic Games to be held in Moscow, Russia. Squaw Valley Olympic Training Center, in California was the sight of the 1962 Winter Olympic games.

In 1981 Coach Franklin was Voted and Awarded North Carolina Most Valuable Amateur Player of the Year.

Playing Career:

Coach Franklin had a Seven Year Professional Playing career in the following Leagues, ASL, USL, MISL, and USISL.

In 1982, the US College Football Hall of Fame, hosted an ASL Pro Soccer Exhibition Game between the Nashville Diamonds and the Detroit Express on Friday May 7th, at Galbreath Field, Kings Island, Ohio. Sight of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Coach Franklin played for the Nashville Diamonds. During the game, Coach Franklin scored the winning goal 2-1, for Nashville, and at the end of the game was asked to sign the "game ball", that is now on exhibition in the US Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. 

In 1995, US Soccer, hosted the, "United States Amateur Soccer Association National Cup Final, at the Knutz Stadium Indianapolis, Indiana. Coach Franklin played with the Datagraphic (Over 30), Soccer Team, from Atlanta, Georgia. The team ended the tournament as 2nd in the Nation that year.
